FAQ
What is builder gel?
Builder gel is a thicker viscosity, durable gel product used to create strength, structure, and support for natural nails or extensions. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to grow and maintain their natural nails without the need for acrylics. Builder gel can be used to add a little length, reinforce your natural nails, and help prevent breakage. It cures (hardens) under a UV or LED lamp and can be finished with a top coat for a sleek clean mani option, or topped with a gel polish colour for a flawless finish.
What is IBX and how often should I have this service done?
IBX is a salon only treatment for the nails. It is fantastic for those with thin, weak or damaged nails and can help to repair delaminated (peeling) free edges. It is also amazing for healthy nails as it toughens the natural nail and helps them to grow!
Unlike paint on nail strengtheners you can buy over the counter, IBX is able to penetrate into the deeper layers of the nail plate to create a protective shield inside the nail as opposed to sitting on top of the nail. IBX can be used under Gel Polish or it can be used alone over natural nails to help them grow.

IBX can be done weekly if you are having Nail Rehab IBX Manicures with no Gel Polish applied over top. Otherwise, if you are adding IBX on to your Gel Polish Manicure you should have IBX between 4 – 6 times (in a row) for the best results. Once you are satisfied with how your nails are looking / feeling you can drop back to every second or third time to maintain the health of the natural nail.

Basic - multiple lines, shapes, adding chrome, foil or glitter to simple designs, florals, animal print, abstract, stamping over chrome or foil

Intricate - Character work, very intricate line work or art that requires intricate detail and multiple layers
What is the difference between Shellac & Gel Polish?
Gel polish and Shellac are the same thing, Shellac is just the brand name of a type of gel.
Why does a 4 week rebalance cost more than a 2-3 week?
This is due to there generally being more lifting & growth present which means more filing, which takes more time & uses more product.
Why can't I just remove my product at home?
You can, we offer at home removal kits for sale in the salon. However, it is not ideal and that is because if your product is not removed correctly it can cause damage to your natural nail. Once your natural nail is compromised, typically the next lot of product you apply will not last as well as nail enhancements wear best on a healthy, solid foundation.
What is SNS and do you offer it as a service?
SNS is a dipping system to which a resin (glue) is applied to the natural nail and it is then dipped into what is essentially a modified version of Acrylic powder. SNS is advertised as not Acrylic or Gel and that it is non-damaging etc, however all SNS really is an adjusted application of Acrylic. SNS is NOT a natural alternative to Gel Polish or Acrylics and is absolutely not better for your nails. We don’t offer SNS as a service & will also not remove SNS.
Do you do nail extensions?
No, we offer natural nail services only. Simply because it's what we enjoy doing and it's what we are passionate about at Rebelle Studios. We love putting the work in, alongside you to nurse your natural nails back to health, which in return will help you grow your own natural length. There is absolutely nothing wrong with extensions when applied, removed and maintained correctly however it's not a service we choose to offer.
What is a hybrid stain?
Hybrid stain is a longer-lasting brow stain that combines the power of henna with traditional tinting. A hybrid stain dyes both the brow hairs and leaves a stain on the skin — giving a more defined, filled-in look that mimics the effect of makeup. It’s perfect if you love a bold brow or want to save time in your morning routine. A hybrid stain generally lasts between 5-10 days on the skin and 4-6 weeks on the brow hairs depending on your skin type, hair growth cycle & aftercare.
Is a hybrid stain the same as a tint?
Not quite — hybrid stain lasts longer and gives a more dramatic, defined look compared to traditional tints, which only colour the brow hairs and fade more quickly.
How should I prepare for a brow appointment?
Ideally you will come with clean skin and no makeup around your brows, however if this is not possible we can remove your makeup for you. Note that we don't recommend reapplying makeup after a service so it is best to not have plans afterwards. Avoid exfoliating, tanning products, or using active skincare (like retinol, AHA/BHA) near the brow area for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
How often should I book in for a brow appointment?
Most clients will come in every 4–6 weeks to maintain their shape and colour — but this can vary depending on your hair growth and personal preference.
